How Can 3D Rendering Help Build a House?

Building a house, or any residential or commercial property, isn’t a straightforward process, from design to planning and foundations to finishing touches there are a lot of moving parts to any build.

What if we told you that we can simplify at least part of the process for you?

Showcasing all elements of your property in an efficient and visually appealing way, 3D CGI renders are an affordable and effective tool to have in your house or office design arsenal. 3D rendering is becoming more and more popular across various industries, ranging from architects and housebuilders to interior designers and large scale developers. The aim, in its simplest form, is to create realistic images that are as close to real life imagery as possible.

3D Exterior Rendering

What is a 3D render?

The point of 3D rendering is to curate quality bespoke 3D photorealistic images from 2D plans.
This is a great tool that can help to bring plans to life, whilst also working out the materials, scale and interior design finishes to any residential or commercial property.
3D CGI rendering can also help to add light and texture to the scene, making it almost indistinguishable from real life images.

What is the process behind 3D rendering?

Once an initial concept has been proposed by a client, this will be priced up by the team before setting out to create the imagery.
Our designers will then take over and set about bringing the concept to life by:

  1. Ensure that the 2D plans are complete and to the specification outlined by the client during the consultation.
  2. Using digital modelling software, our designers will begin creating 3D shapes, edges and surfaces, giving absolute precision against dimensions and scales provided.
  3. At this stage, the designers will start to build up the layers, adding materials, colours and reflections to the image. This step could include anything from the windows and doors, the bricks or cladding on the exterior design, or internal design features such as wood flooring or even the kinds of tables and chairs to help stage the potential home or office environment.

4. The next step is where the real magic happens, with the image really starting to take shape and look like its real-world counterpart.
This is where both natural and artificial light sources are introduced and play their part and mimic sunlight and internal lighting, aiding the viewer to really understand how light will hit certain rooms and areas in the property.

This not only helps the user to see a photo realistic version of their home building plans, but allows them to really plan for interior design and lighting options, furniture layout and colours to use when applying their final touches. The detail in this stage is hyper-realistic, to the point of allowing light to refract or reflect based on the surfaces it interacts with.

5. The final stage here is the rendering of the image, where the images are processed and the 3D design is captured to create multiple 2D images from various angles whether that be interior CGIexternal CGI, or 360 degree virtual tours of the property.
